There are genuinely two main designs of stand, horizontal and vertical racks. As a general rule, horizontal racks support more weight, as they have a much lower centre of gravity so are a lesser amount of likely to topple over. To the disadvantages, they take up far more space on the floor, which is in high demand if you have only a limited space to exercise in. Vertical racks live on a far smaller footprint, but make certain you put your heaviest hand weights towards the bottom of the roof-rack to lower its centre of gravity. One of the important considerations of buying a sheet is how much you are going to spend on it. Larger racks with greater carrying sizes tend to be more expensive than small ones, but you can pick up a good deal by looking for a high quality second-hand dumbbell rack, particularly coming from an old gym or exercise centre that is closing straight down.
